An Update on Wandering Chrysanthemum (10/2025)

In either late September or early October I wrote about how slow I felt that the script for Wandering Chrysanthemum was progressing. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore and I feel like I’m approaching the end of the first draft of the story.

As a reminder, Wandering Chrysanthemum is a prequel to the main visual novel that I want to write. Actually, I think it’s more of a prototype scenario so I can develop my skills as a writer and develop my characters further. It’s still uncertain if there will be any continuity between this project and the main story. Either way, I don’t think it’s a huge deal to me. I’m honestly satisfied that I’m going to be able to finish a project at all.

As of writing, the script is currently 40 pages long. If you’ve ever seen a script for a film then you will understand the format I am writing in.

I’m estimating that this prototype visual novel will be about an hour-long read.

Currently, I’m on track to finishing the script by the end of the year like I said I would.

Once the script is done, I will dedicate myself to creating some art for it or probably outsource it to someone who has an art style that I think is a good fit for the world I’m building.

While the actual development of the visual novel is still a ways out, I often find myself listening to certain tracks on loop while I’m writing a scene and say to myself “yes, I want a similar track for this part”.

Of course, I don’t plan on selling it anywhere. I’ll probably upload it to Itch.io and distribute it for free to gather feedback from the community.

My mind shouldn’t be on these types of things right now, but I can’t help but imagine this project being at that point. I’m very excited to be working on this at all.

This was just a small update for the project. I hope that I will be able to share artwork or something interesting in the following months.
